Doreen J Scott
Artist, Photographer, Card Maker I started a professional career in photography on leaving school in 1956, and gained several photographic qualifications covering industrial, scientific, commercial and advertising, weddings, portrait and historical records, in England and later in New Zealand where I emigrated in 1964. I set up and ran the Central Photographic Unit at Massy University in Palmerston North. Then in 1974 I opened my own studio, later combining it with my own art Gallery in Palmerston North (1976-1984). Since then I have enjoyed painting and taking photographs for fun, inspired by the life and beauty of Great Barrier Island where I have lived since 1985. I am now enjoying learning new skills with the arrival of the digital age and also sharing my knowledge and photographic experience with members of the GBI Photo Artz Group. Painting has always been my hobby and I have held many exhibitions over the years. In recent years I have become very interested and busy with card making which includes all my artistic and photographic skills, including the wonderful challenges of rubber stamping. My artistic philosophy is to enjoy, develop and share the creative gift that our Creator, God, has bestowed in us all and to help and encourage others in their own “creative gifting” – whatever form these may take. |
