Lorraine Daly
Lorraine was born in Auckland in 1941. Taking art at Mount Roskill Grammar under the tutelage of Colin de Luca she began a lifelong journey of experimentation and enjoyment of many art forms.
In 1961 she had an oil painting accepted in the junior section of the Kelliher Art Competition. She became an active member and exhibitor of the West Auckland Art Society for many years, painting mainly in oils but also doing workshops and establishing a cottage industry in basketry. In recent years Lorraine developed a love of watercolours after attending workshops with Marlene Milverton. Her love affair with Great Barrier Island began when she met and married local boy Michael Daly and to this day the magic scenery of the Island has continued to imspire her to paint. Although living in Auckland they have a cottage in Blind Bay, Okupu, and come back to the Island as often as possible. |
